An access log is a thorough list of all the files which were accessed by the visitors of a particular site. Each and every file which was requested for some reason will be listed, so if you have a single webpage with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log shall contain a total of six entries - one for each of the six files which were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log typically contains the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, browser and IP address. Oftentimes you can also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your site. The info which an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It could be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to prepare reports on the functionality of a site, in addition to the web stats which your web hosting server may have generated.
Access Log Manager in Cloud Website Hosting
Our custom Hepsia CP features a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are one of them. As you sign in to your cloud website hosting account and take a look at this section, you'll find a list of all the domain names and subdomains you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to press a button which will be available next to every domain/subdomain. In case the option is enabled, you'll see a download link together with the file size so far, so you will be able to save the file to your PC and view it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect immediately, so if you no longer require one, you may stop it with only a mouse click from the same section of the CP. You shall still have the ability to access the already developed content by clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
When you host your websites in a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will have the option to trigger or deactivate the generation of access logs with only a few mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting CP. You'll find this function within the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is one click on the On button that you can see there. The function can be triggered independently for any website regardless of whether it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you'll find a complete list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with just a click and you may then look at it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation could be stopped by simply switching the On option to Off in the Logs section of your Control Panel.
